Why molokhia is our busiest SKU every Ramadan

Montana

Across the Gulf, Europe and North America, our distributors report molokhia as their highest-velocity item during Ramadan and Eid.

Every year the pattern repeats. Weeks before Ramadan, orders for frozen molokhia surge across our export markets — the Gulf, the UK, France, the USA, Canada and Australia — as families stock up for the table that defines the holy month and the Eid that follows.

Molokhia is comfort food and tradition in one bowl, and for the Egyptian and Levantine diaspora it is non-negotiable at a family iftar. Because the fresh leaf is impossible to find abroad and wilts within a day even at home, the frozen product carries the entire demand. Our distributors consistently report it as their single highest-velocity SKU of the season.

We plan production and cold storage around this curve. Peak harvest is July through October; the leaves are frozen at the field and held at our Qalyub cold stores, so that the Ramadan wave months later ships from stock without a quality compromise. It's a reminder that frozen isn't a lesser version of fresh — it's what makes a seasonal crop available, in character, the whole year.
